Co-founders Karl Andersson and Steve Miller have known each other for just over a decade. They first met while working alongside one another at publicly traded Wabash National Corporation, a leading manufacturer of aluminum-sided trailers.
At the time, Steve served as Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing, while Karl Andersson was working as the Founder & CEO of Technology Insights.
When Steve joined the team at Wabash National in 2005, he decided to hire Karl and his team at Technology Insights for an initial analysis of the business and an assessment of the Purchasing Organization.
Having just started his new role, the move to bring Karl and his team in didn’t sit well. In Karl’s words, Steve’s team was not thrilled about it! With just starting his new role and the optics of management already bringing in consultants, it wasn’t a popular decision.
However, within a week Karl was able to present a deep understanding of the overall spend inside Wabash National like never before. It created visibility for Steve and his team that showed there was so much more to do than what he had thought. This ability to gain direction and organization created a 15+ year partnership with Technology Insights into the organization, doing a variety of projects, and helping out with the different initiatives.
To gain an understanding of just how big this portfolio was, Karl and his team had the ability to analyze 4 billion in spend and capture savings equally to $50,000,000. Yes, that’s 7 zeroes!
